Ankey is a Vietnamese input method for macOS that I’m building for myself and for anyone who types Vietnamese all day. It installs as a system input source, so it works in every app, with no separate window to manage.

Status: coming soon. I’m still working on the typing engine, so there is no download yet. If you want to know when it’s ready, send me a message.

What it does

• Telex and VNI typing
• Shows the syllable you’re composing as marked text, then commits it when you press space or punctuation
• Runs as a native macOS input method, written in Swift
• Requires macOS 12 or later

Why I’m building it

I type Vietnamese every day and wanted an input method that does exactly what I expect and nothing more. Ankey is my take on that: small, native and quick to get out of your way.
